Watercolors by Bobbi Kelly

Bobbi Kelly earned her degree in Art from the University of Idaho back in what she refers to as "the Dark Ages." After 31 years of teaching high school art in Mountain Home, Idaho, Bobbi retired and moved to the rolling hills of the Palouse to be closer to family. The move opened up a vast new terrain for exploration in watercolor.

A member of the Palouse Watercolor Socius, and a Merit Member of the Idaho Watercolor Society, Bobbi has spent a decade capturing the region's hills, downtown buildings, and other picturesque scenes. She is a regular participant in local art-related activities such as the Renaissance Fair, Moscow's annual Artwalk, and the 1912 Center's Winter Market. She frequently enjoys painting Plein Air. "Casual realism" in how Bobbi describes her style. She believes that a painting's subject matter is not as important as is its interpretation, providing the viewer with new ways of looking at ordinary things. Recently Bobbi has been creating colorful, tie-dye-inspired watercolor collages, tearing and re-assembling the pieces to create semi-realistic compositions.
