This studio course is designed for a wide range of skill levels interested in developing their oil painting practice. Painting will be explored as a means of expressing our contemporary world via realism, metaphor and abstraction. We will examine contemporary issues in painting through an investigation of techniques of old masters, new methods and how they interact with each other. Painting offers the chance to investigate concepts through application; mark making and the surface of quality of paint with an emphasis on developing ideas and refining techniques.
