Moscow Contemporary features Exline’s drawings on paper, stretched and un-stretched canvas, and drawing direct to the gallery wall. Accompanied by excerpts from Exline’s statement on drawing, the exhibition continues his fascination with future cities and visionary architecture.

“At its foundation, art is about mark-making. This is where Gerald’s work begins. It is the perfect starting point for Moscow Contemporary” says founding director Roger Rowley. “Just as his work imagines a future, we are building our future as Moscow Contemporary.
About the Artist
Gerald Exline graduated from the University of Illinois and Columbia University. He was a professor of architecture at the University of Illinois in the Graduate Studio and was also a fellow at the University of Illinois Center for Advanced Studies, where he used his discoveries with drawing to design future architecture. He continued his career as the Head of Architecture at Cranbrook Academy of Art from 1975-78. Throughout his career in higher education, Gerald also did architectural design work for various architecture firms around the country.
After his stint in higher education, Gerald operated his own architecture firm in Ketchum, ID from 1979-83. From 1983-92 he was the lead design architect for HTNB in Los Angeles. He retired to the family farm in Meridian, ID before moving to Viola in 2020 where he works as an architectural design consultant and as an artist specializing in images of future cities
Throughout his career, Gerald has had showings of his work in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and various other venues.
