Moscow Contemporary Receives Prestigious Grant
July 10, 2025
Moscow Contemporary (MosCo) has been recognized with a $60,000 grant from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Spread over two years, this $30,000 a year grant supports our exhibitions programs and makes us one of only 51 recipients to have been acknowledged nationally for our work and only one of 30 small to midsize arts organizations to receive this honor. Awards from the Foundation recognize organizations that work closely with artists who create vibrant cultural environments for their communities. The Foundation Press Release states: “Moscow Contemporary (Moscow, ID), an outpost for cultural exchange and understanding in a predominantly conservative region, foregrounds artists, artworks, and exhibitions that bring underrepresented perspectives to the area.”
Exhibitions take years to develop. “MosCo has had the project ideas but disruptions in our brief history have hindered their development and made finding the resources to bring those ideas to life difficult. A grant from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts creates the capacity to think beyond our previous limitations. This grant also validates that what we are building here is important and of the highest artistic caliber,” says MosCo Executive Director Roger Rowley.
Foundation funds will support exhibits of local, regional, and national artists that celebrate the richness of artistic expression to enhance joy, community, and empathy. Efforts are being made to institute cultural conformity and arts organizations play a critical role in giving voice to a multitude of perspectives that have always been the true hallmark of America.
“The Warhol Foundation is one of the most selective arts funders. It is a testament to the organization’s vision and expertise that we have captured the attention of the Foundation to receive this very important grant,” says MosCo Executive Director Roger Rowley
About the Foundation: Following Andy Warhol’s will, the mission of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts is the advancement of the visual arts. To date, the foundation has given over $310 million in cash grants to over 1,000 arts organizations around the country and abroad and has donated 52,786 works of art to 322 institutions worldwide.
