IN JUST TWO YEARS,

we have seen unprecedented support for the arts and culture in Moscow.
But unfortunately, our time at 414 S Main St has come to an end.

Since 2021, we have curated 8 different exhibitions representing artists in our region and beyond. These shows are designed to represent culturally driven moments and administer conversations and workshops for students and the community.

We have 4 traveling exhibitions, which continue to showcase the organization’s talents across the U.S.

Note: Our city population is only 25,000 (at times).

In that time, we have had more opportunities to connect with art than ever before. We have evolved our offerings to include three children's programs, various adult workshops, clubs and gallery tours.

It is rare to find so many talented artists in our region, and for that reason, we opened our space to allow for the community to connect through the entire lens of culture: visual, literary and performance art.

Our community investment this year is 50% more than last year, and the total funding MosCo has received this year is more than three times what the previous organization raised annually.

Eligibility for the National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) starts in 2024. This is what fuels ambitious exhibition projects. Eligibility for the larger organizational Idaho Commission on the Arts (ICA) categories isn’t until 2025.

We are currently looking for a new place to host best in class exhibitions, programming and arts education in Northern Idaho.

For the time being, we will continue to operate to our fullest extent possible. Educational programs may be hosted at the 1912 Center, and other events may begin to show up in the form of pop-ups or at other venues.

Moscow Contemporary is a 501c(3) arts organization formed in 2021 by the core belief that arts fundamentally express our shared humanity and generate new perspectives to build a better future.

  • We are required to vacate the gallery at 5th & Main Street by January 31, 2024.

  • Make a Pledge

To understand what we can afford as a lease or mortgage payment, we need to project our earnings potential. This is an earnest effort at determining resource capacity for a permanent home.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

“This class has given me a new direction in my life. It has woken a dormant heart.”

Diane Emehiser, Oil Painting Class Participant 2023

FROM STUDENTS & COMMUNITY MEMBERS OF MOSCOW CONTEMPORARY

He comes out of class so happy and we hear all about everything he did and learned for the next week!
— ASAP parent, 2023
These camps are always a summer highlight for our son. The instructors are fun, creative, and encouraging, and Elliott always comes home with a proud smile. We feel lucky to have such talented and inspiring art teachers in our town!
— Jenn Ladino (Parent)
It makes me happy
— Holo (ASAP Student)
Teaken enjoys it, and we love seeing what  she brings home. Also compliments what the kids do in school.
— Erik Brynestad (Parent)
It unlocked a part of me that I always wanted to access, but just needed the technical guidance.  I will absolutely be painting for the rest of my life now.
— Jason Oliveira (Oil Painting Class)
There is truly nothing else like Moscow Contemporary around. The level of accessible contemporary art exhibitions in this space are some of the best in the region. On top of that, what the gallery does for the community in terms of art education and connection is so valuable. Let’s support our friends and neighbors in keeping this vision going forward!
— Krista Brand, WSU Professor and Artist
Wow, I did not expect to find art of this level in this tiny town!
— Gallery Visitor, Fall 2023
This is SO FUN!!
— ASAP student, 2023
This is a space for community engagement, through the curation of important narratives, to provoke discussion, while reminding us that a gallery is a vital reflective-cultural space.
— Renee Kredell, Gallery Visitor 2023
It was fun. Actually I was a Tiger and an Eagle.
— Karl (Animal Dances Student)
I hope the class gets a million dollars
— Sander (MSAP Student)
I teach at MosCo because it is a generative, supportive place that allows me to offer high-level classes to a student body that has come to expect exactly that. It’s rare to find this even in a big city!
— ASAP teacher
My kids have gone to every class I could get them into for years - it’s incredible we have this here!
— ASAP parent, 2023
It was fun
— Ben Lawerence (MSAP Student)
It has been a joy to take creative workshops and join the thriving Collage Club community at Moscow Contemporary. This space welcomes art and unique experiences in a collaborative way that helps to support community-building and personal expansion. I want to continue seeing Moscow Contemporary bringing together the creative thinkers in Moscow’s arts community and beyond.
